7 years sure does fly by.  We had a great few days celebrating Maggie’s birthday, from hosting her first sleepover with a few friends to a big celebration at the base bowling alley.  I’ve posted a few photos in the gallery here, now it’s time to clean up and play with all those fun toys!

Happy New Year to everyone. We had a great vacation in Austria and posted a ton of new pictures in the gallery. Celebrated with friends for the new year, the Sicilians really know how to throw a party :). Check out the holiday pictures here

Blogging from the iPod

So I just discovered there is an app for the iPod Touch that let’s you post to a wordpress blog so here’s my first attempt. I don’t have a camera on this model so I’ll have to just make this one boring and stay all text. I will however upload at least one picture so it’s not completely dull.

The good news is that I just might blog a little more, but I think I’ve made that statement before so YMMV :).

More Sicilian Adventures

We’ve been having a great time over here and now here are some more pictures to prove it.  Click here for the main folder and explore, there’s a lot of new stuff from our trips to Morgantina, Marzamemi, Pam’s trip to Garmisch, and Maggie’s first soccer game!

Speaking of that first game, here’s a quick video of that first game so you can get a taste of the action.  Her team, the “Lightning Bolts”, is 2-1 (first loss was this morning, but it was a hard fought game!).  Check out the action below:

UPDATE:  Sorry that embedded video isn’t showing up – just trying out this Vimeo thing and of course, the “free” version makes you wait forever for the video to post.  I guess you get what you pay for….

Welcome to Sicily!

Greetings all – it’s been a while since the last update and a lot has happened, so here’s a quick entry. Biggest thing is our move to Sicily, we’ll be here for the next 3 years and are already having a great time as you can see here.  It’s an amazing place, lots of history and very friendly people.  Still getting the hang of the roads and figuring out some Italian here and there, but all in all it’s been a fairly easy transition.  Living in town will be interesting, and should help a lot with the whole language thing.  I’m sure I’ll get good at playing charades while I’m at it….

We’ll keep posting pictures to the gallery and the link above, but so far this is my favorite:

Well, maybe now that we’re overseas I’ll have more time to update this thing. Or not, we’ll see :).

Hmm – I guess I only post to this thing when it snows

Yet another huge snowstorm, snomageddon, snOMG, snopocalypse, snotoriusBIG, kaisersnowze, or whatever tag you want to put on it (I know there’s more out there, but those seem to be the favorites). Measured on the deck – we got a full 2 feet. It’s drifting more here and there – but that seems to be the real total. Good news is the power stayed on, and an enterprising young man with a snow plow stopped by to clear the driveway for a small fee. Absolutely worth it. There’s a few pictures up on facebook, and I’ll post some here as well after we head out and get some sledding in!

Wow – now THAT’s a snowstorm – nothing like a White Christmas

It’s still coming down and we’re already at almost a foot and a half. Shoveled the driveway at 8 or 9 inches and it looks like I didn’t even make a dent. Posted a few photos in the gallery and on my facebook page, looking forward to hunkering down at home for a while and enjoying a White Christmas (we think).

Air Force Cycling Classic – Maggie got a medal!

We had a great time on Sunday riding in the AF Cycling Classic’s Crystal Ride.  It’s an amateur ride prior to the pro race in Crystal City, VA, an 8 mile loop around the Pentagon, the AF Memorial and back into Crystal City.  You earn a medal by completeing laps, 2 for bronze, 4 for silver, and 8 for gold (that’s a full metric century, 64 miles, if you do all 8).  We hit the course at 0730 just as the sky cleared from a total downpour with Dad pulling Maggie on her new Trail-a-bike and Mom keeping watch (keep your hands on the handlebars, Maggie!).  We had a great ride and completed four laps (32 miles), so Maggie got her very own Silver medal!  A very nice man taking pictures at the race forwarded us some great action shots (thanks Jack!!) and they’re posted here.  After the ride, we ate a huge lunch and watched the pros fly by as they rode 14 laps on the same course (110 miles total).  A great time was had by all!

Seriously, snow? In March?

Yup, almost 12 inches of snow fell last night so we got an extra day at home.  3 hours of shoveling the driveway, not exactly my idea of a day off, but hey at least I could sleep in a bit ;).  Here’s a few pictures of the white stuff.
